Vaping helps 50,000 smokers a year quit cigarettes’, landmark English study claims
New research from University College London estimated 50,700 people in England reported they were no longer smoking after using e-cigarettes to help them quit. Funded by Cancer Research UK, the study shows the benefit to public health by using E-cigarettes as an aide for smokers to help them quit smoking. The study used data on more than 50,000 people between 2006 and 2017.
In response to the latest findings, Vape Business Ireland (VBI) spokesperson Joe Dunne said, “Looking at this study clearly shows England have adopted a balanced approach between necessary regulation and tobacco cessation. There are lessons for Ireland in the approach taken in England and the corresponding drop in people smoking tobacco.”
